William was ordained in 1750, and was appointed to St Mary Wigford le Wigford in 1786. He appears to have been appointed to a number of other parishes around Lincoln.

Interestingly, there are several Durances named as Mayor or Sheriff of Lincoln.

A John Durance was sheriff in 1755. This could be William Durance's brother as there is a John Durance christened in 1723, in St Benedicts - where William was Christened in 1727.
