Elizabeth Runciman was difficult to find in any of the censuses.

In her sister Sophia's Will, Sophia left money in a trust for the maintenance and support of sister Elizabeth "who is of unsound mind and wholly incapable of looking after her affairs."

Eventually Malcolm found her initials in the 1881 census, at St Lukes Hospital for Lunatics in Old Street , City Road Holborn:

E.R.; patient; unmarried; 79; Governess; b. Bedfordshire; Woburn; Lunatic

He then found a burial record for Elizabeth - in the Kensal Green Cemetery, Kensington in 1886.
