The name is pronounced 'Sha'pell'.
"Clement Channing Chappell was a witness to the marriage of his brother John Theophilus Chappell and Ann Blackman on the 25
December 1861 at the Little Portland Street Chapel, London. Another witness was given as Mary Shelley. The Blackman family also came from the village of Yaxley." (from a roots-web message)
